Kikuube DHO succumbs to heart failure

Kikuube: The Kikuube District Health Officer (DHO), Dr. Nelson Naisye, has died.

The district health boss passed away last evening (Friday) at Kikuube Health Centre IV, where he had gone for treatment.

His death was confirmed by Faridah Ndagano, the district communication officer.

‘’We are saddened to inform the general public about the death of our DHO, Nelson Naisye, which occurred today at exactly 6:30 p.m. at Kikuube Health Centre IV,’’ she confirmed on Friday evening.

Ndagano told ugreports.co.ug that the district health officer has been battling with heart complications for quite some time. ‘’He has been getting treatment at Kikuube Health Center IV since Monday.’’

The district communication officer disclosed that before the tragic incident, Naisye attended the district meeting and left at 4p.m to get medication at the health facility, only to be discovered dead on the hospital bed.

She said the body has been conveyed to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem. ‘’The body has been conveyed to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmoterm, and burial will take place on Monday in Jinja.”

District to hold a special council sitting

In honor of his dedicated service to the community, the Kikuube district will tomorrow (Sunday) hold a special council sitting at the town council premises at exactly 10 a.m.

There will also be public viewing of the body.

Naisye is the second district health officer in the Bunyoro sub-region to pass on within a month.

On January 7, 2024, Dr. Jino Abiriga, the former acting Masindi District Health Officer, was also murdered, and the body was dumped a few meters from his home in Kijura North Cell, Central Division Masindi Municipality.

Three suspects in connection with his murder, including his wife, Betty Cherotich, Martin Kipsang, and Johsua Nemureng, were remanded to Hoima Government Prison and will appear in court on January 30, 2024.
