Kiira receives new-design police uniforms, accessories

Each officer received two complete sets of the new uniform and accessories, including stockings, black UPF-labeled T-shirts, headdress, and shoes.

Kiira: The Kiira Region Police has received a fresh consignment of newly designed police uniforms and accessories from the central government.

The delivery, made by troop carriers Reg. Nos. UP 9611 and UP 8835, arrived at the regional headquarters on Friday, May 9, 2025.

The handover took place in the presence of the Regional Police Commander (RPC), regional department heads, and District Police Commanders (DPCs).

The upgraded uniforms come with improved specifications, including the officer’s force number and surname. For senior officers, the uniforms also feature rank insignia, ensuring a standardized and professional appearance.

A prominent design enhancement is the Uganda national flag displayed on the left arm, symbolizing national authority and pride.

RPC Kiira Region, SSP Charles Nsaba, expressed gratitude to H.E. Gen (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Abbas Byakagaba for their continued commitment to officer welfare. “These efforts are aimed at strengthening trust, credibility, accountability, and transparency within the communities we serve,” he said.

He further noted that the new uniforms and gear are essential tools for fostering professionalism, promoting teamwork, and reinforcing a unified identity among officers critical elements in improving responsiveness and coordination.

SSP Andrew Muzira, the Regional Human Resource Officer, confirmed that all police personnel in Jinja, regardless of unit, have received two pairs of the new uniform along with complete uniform kits. “No officer has been left behind. There will be a continuous and consistent supply,” he emphasized.

Corporal Abila Moses, Force No. 46524, attached to the Child and Family Protection Unit (CFPU), praised the IGP for actions that have significantly boosted officer morale. He believes the new gear will directly contribute to more effective and motivated policing.

ASP Agaba Ignatius, Officer in Charge at Jinja Central Police Station (CPS), thanked the police leadership for their responsiveness. “We shall continue to serve our communities with renewed pride,” he said.

The Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson James Mubi reported that the news of the new uniforms has been warmly received by the public. Community members have expressed optimism that the logistical and visual upgrade will result in smarter and more efficient service delivery.

Officers also commended RPC SSP Nsaba for his effective leadership in coordinating the distribution. Beyond the uniforms, welfare improvements include the provision of hot, balanced meals for all on-duty officers, seven days a week a measure that has significantly enhanced morale, discipline, and performance.
