Kazo District Set for Mega Tree Planting on 7 May as PLU Celebrates Museveni Victory and Muhoozi Birthday

KAZO, Uganda — Supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) have announced a large-scale tree planting initiative in Kazo District to commemorate the 2026 election victory of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and to honor the birthday of Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

According to organizers, the event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 7th May 2026, and is expected to draw PLU members, supporters, and members of the public from across the country.

Held under the theme “A Billion Tree Planting Project Begins,” the initiative is aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainability while marking the twin celebrations. Organizers say the exercise will contribute to national efforts to combat climate change and restore degraded ecosystems.

In a public notice, the PLU called upon all Ugandans to participate in the exercise, emphasizing the importance of collective action in preserving the environment for future generations.

“All roads will lead to Kazo District,” the statement noted, highlighting the significance of the event not only as a political celebration but also as a practical step toward environmental protection.

The development follows similar efforts by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who has previously marked his birthdays through community-focused activities such as tree planting and charitable donations. Organizers say this year’s celebrations will build on that tradition by scaling up the impact through mass participation.

The planned tree planting campaign is expected to serve as a symbolic and practical gesture, blending political celebration with environmental responsibility, as Uganda continues to push for sustainable development initiatives.
