Kagadi: The Kagadi grade one magistrate’s court on Tuesday remanded a 20-year-old man to Mambugu prisons over defilement.

The accused is Christopher Byamukama, a resident of Hakondo Village in Nyakarongo Sub-county, Kagadi district.

A court presided over by His worship, Edward Kayuki, heard that on October 23, 2023, Byamukama defiled a 17-year-old girl, a resident of the same area.

In the dock, the accused was not allowed to take any pleas because the court lacks jurisdiction for such capital offenses, which prompted the magistrate to remand him until March 5, 2024.

Meanwhile, the same court has remanded a 36-year-old man to Mambugu prisons after denying theft charges.

The suspect is Alex Kamukama, a resident of Nyakarongo village in Nyakarongo Sub-county Kagadi district.

The court heard that on March 8, 2023, the suspect stole a fish table gaming machine worth 10.2 million shillings, the property of Steven Katusiime, alias Gaigai, of the same area.

While in the dock, the suspect pleaded not guilty and was remanded to Mambugu prisons till March 5, 2024, when he will reappear in court for further mention of his case.
