Kabarole LCV Chairman Rwabuhinga eyes Burahya MP seat

Declaring his candidacy, Rwabuhinga affirmed his readiness to represent the people of Burahya with the same dedication he applied at the district level.

Kabarole: Richard Rwabuhinga, the LCV Chairperson for Kabarole District, has officially entered the race for the Burahya County Parliamentary seat under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

He aims to translate his 15-year local government legacy into national impact.

Nominated ahead of the party’s internal elections, Rwabuhinga’s bid is anchored in a long record of transformational leadership that has shaped Kabarole District since 2011.

His tenure has been marked by tangible development in education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and social empowerment an experience he now pledges to leverage to uplift Burahya at the parliamentary level.

Rwabuhinga has consistently been lauded for his people-centered and results-driven governance style. His development track record across the district forms the bedrock of his political appeal.

Under his leadership, the education sector experienced significant expansion. Rwabuhinga facilitated the construction of over 40 classrooms in rural areas, improved school facilities, and introduced local scholarship programs for talented yet underprivileged students. His administration placed particular emphasis on increasing girl-child enrollment and reducing dropout rates.

Health infrastructure and service delivery also improved under his tenure. Key health facilities such as Rueete Health Centre IV were rehabilitated, and new wards were constructed at Nyabuswa and Nyakitokoli health centers.

Rwabuhinga promoted regular community health outreaches and maternal care programs, helping reduce disease burden and improve maternal health in underserved areas.

The politician made road infrastructure a top priority. Roads like Kazingo–Kihondo and several feeder routes were opened and maintained, connecting remote villages to trading centers and social services. Improved access boosted economic activity, especially for smallholder farmers.

Recognizing the agricultural nature of the district, he worked closely with NAADS and Operation Wealth Creation to provide quality seeds, fertilizers, and livestock. Through enhanced agricultural extension services, many households experienced improved yields and incomes.

The outgoing district chairperson also focused on empowering the youth and women. Hundreds of young people were supported through livelihood programs that provided vocational training and startup capital. Women groups gained access to microloans and financial literacy programs, enabling many to start businesses and join cooperatives.

Declaring his candidacy, Rwabuhinga affirmed his readiness to represent the people of Burahya with the same dedication he applied at the district level.

“My service to Kabarole has always been rooted in the needs of the people. Burahya deserves a representative who knows its strengths and struggles. I will be a strong voice for farmers, youth, women, and every citizen seeking opportunity,” he said.

Rwabuhinga’s entry into the parliamentary race has been met with enthusiasm. Residents and local leaders describe him as a proven leader who listens and delivers. His accessibility and practical approach to development have earned him cross-generational support throughout Kabarole.

With national elections looming in 2026, Richard Rwabuhinga brings to the Burahya MP race not just political ambition, but a tested track record and a vision grounded in grassroots transformation.
