Fire guts fuel truck, pump station in Ntungamo

Ntungamo: Millions of shillings were lost in property after the PK fuel station at the Ikona trading center in Kagongi parish, Rugarama sub-county, Ntungamo district, caught fire.

Eyewitnesses say the vehicle that had brought fuel to refill the fuel station went ablaze, and the fire later spread to the surrounding areas, causing unpreventable property damage.

Mugyenyi Darius, one of the eyewitnesses, told this publication that the incident happened on Sunday, March 10, 2024, around 7:00 p.m.

He further revealed that efforts to put out the fire were futile since the fire had already spread, causing unpreventable damage.

Annet Ninsiima, a restaurant owner in the Ikona trading center, revealed that after the incident at the station, the driver drove away the burning vehicle and parked it in the Omukoona trading center in Kasaana west II, along Rubare-Kisiizi road, where the vehicle was left burning to ashes.

By the time of compiling this report, the cause of the fire had yet to be established, and our efforts to get a comment from the police proved futile after the known phone contacts of Rwizi region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira were unreachable.
