Bukedea: The resident district commissioner for Bukedea William Wilberforce Tukei has officially commissioned three multimillion water piped projects in the district
Three water piped projects cited in Nalugai health center III, Kongunga town council, Aligoi seed school at Aligoi sub county and Obur borehole in Kachumbala sub county.
Commissioning exercise was joined by the Bukedea district chairperson Simon Ongura, his executive and technical staff.
Mr. Richard Egwaungu, the Bukedea district water engineer officer told this website that the projects were implemented in water stressed areas.
He said the construction cost for Nalugai piped water costs 438,317922, Aligoi 274,907,562 and Obur borehole at shillings 20,002,000shs both district funded.

William Wilberforce Tukei, the Bukedea resident district commissioner, challenged the residents to own the projects.
He said the government is trying all that it takes to draw services nearer to the people, but there’s a tendency of some people to vandalize.
“These projects are now officially handed over to the community and it costs a lot of money, it’s no longer for the government my appeal lets safe guard it and own in order to benefit us”, said Mr Tukei.
Mr. Ismael Wonyaye, Nalugai local council one chairperson says lack of water has been fueling family domestic violence.
“We have been experiencing a lot of family violence where men beat their women after delaying from distant places in search of water”, said Mr. Woniaye.
However, Simon Ongura Bukedea district chairperson urged the community people to constitute water committees which will enable them to foresee and protect the water points.
“Iam happy today we are handing all this to our community let’s put a committee to take charge”, said Mr Ongura.
