Bukedea: Parents in Bukedea district have been urged to educate their children.
The call was made during the graduation of 35 top-class pupils in crane nursery and primary school in Kotiokot parish, Kabarwa Sub County in Bukedea district, who have graduated to primary school.
The graduation ceremony was held on Saturday, officiated by the Bukedea district education officeR, Stephen Okurut.
According to Okurut, nursery education helps to build a good foundation for learners before they enter primary school.
“The good education of the learner starts at the nursery level, whereby a child is taught how to learn how to read, write, and speak English, said Mr. Okurut.
Mr. Okurut also added that a child with a good nursery education background experiences fewer challenges in education compared to those who didn’t go through nursery.
“In ancient times, parents used not to enroll their children in nursery education, and our education levels were poor and backward, but as of now, our education levels have changed,” added Mr. Okurut.
Crane Nursery and Primary School is one of the privately owned nursery primary school in Kabawa Sub County, started in 2017.
George Amoru, the school director, says the school managed to graduate 16 girls and 19 boys.
He said the school was established to support the local community.
“Most of our parents depend on farming as their source of income, so you find that even our school fees are pocket-friendly,” said Amoru.
Mr. Moses Emudong, a parent and well-wisher who is also picking interest in running for Kumi County Member of Parliament, urged parents to take responsibility for educating their children.
“The only saving grace for us now, parents, is to educate our children,” said Emudong.
