West Nile: The Banyoro-Batooro Community in West Nile is eagerly anticipating the arrival of Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, the state minister for youth and children affairs.
Hon. Barugahara will be visiting Arua City on Friday April 26, 2024, following an invitation from Hon. Atima Jackson, the member of Parliament representing Arua Central Division in the 11th Parliament.
The occasion is a special gathering known as the Megga Community Baraza, where the official handover of a community mini-bus will take place at the Arua Primary School playground.
The association comprises individuals who identify as Bantu-speaking and trace their roots to the great kingdoms of Bunyoro-Kitara and Tooro.
It encompasses a diverse group, including the business community, students studying in West Nile, and the working class.
In preparation for this significant event, a preparatory meeting was held at the Legacy Hotel in Arua City. Karamagi Zaituni, the chairperson of the association, emphasized the importance of welcoming Minister Barugahara as the great-grandchildren of King Kabalega.
She urged all Banyoro-Batooro residing in the community to come out in large numbers and extend a warm welcome to the minister.
Minister Balamu hails from the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom and was appointed by the President of the Republic of Uganda in a recent cabinet reshuffle.
His exemplary leadership has led to job creation for youth in various sectors, both locally and internationally.
The occasion will also be graced by other distinguished guests, including Hon. Hamson Obua Denis, the Government Chief Whip, and Mr. Nuwagira Toyota Michael, the National Vice Chairman and Acting Chairperson of the Patriotic League of Uganda.
Additionally, Hon. Dr. Lillian Aber, the Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees, will be in attendance.
