He also encouraged members to engage in various economic activities as a means to alleviate poverty and provide financial support to the clan.

Masindi: The Babwijwa clan members from the Bunyoro sub-region have been urged to take their parental responsibilities seriously to ensure their children grow up to be responsible citizens who can secure the clan’s future.

Timothy Baleke, the Chairperson of the Ababwijwa clan members from Hoima and Kikuube districts, made this call during the clan’s second annual general meeting held at Isaac Kirya’s home in Kirasa 1 cell, Masindi municipality over the weekend.

He highlighted the growing issue of parental neglect, noting that many parents have failed to fulfill their responsibilities, leading to the upbringing of irresponsible children.

Baleke emphasized the importance of unity, transparency, active participation, and accountability within the clan to achieve long-term success.

He also encouraged members to engage in various economic activities as a means to alleviate poverty and provide financial support to the clan.

Isaac Kiirya, the chairperson of the Ababwijwa clan in Greater Masindi, stressed the importance of valuing education, pointing out that investing in children is essential for their development into self-reliant and responsible citizens.

Kiirya echoed Baleke’s concerns, warning that over-pampering children could lead to the creation of irresponsible individuals who become burdens to their families and society.

The meeting, attended by over 150 clan members from Masindi, Kiryandongo, Buliisa, Kikuube, Hoima, and Greater Kibaale, addressed several key issues. These included the formation of a SACCO, the creation of sub-county committees, and efforts to increase participation in clan activities.

The gathering emphasized the clan’s commitment to fostering unity, personal responsibility, and community development for a brighter future.
