The chairman subsequently reported the matter to Katanga Police Post.

Masindi: Police in Masindi District are investigating the discovery of an unidentified male body found in Budongo Central Forest, near Rwengabi Village in Budongo Sub County.

The body was discovered on Friday, November 8, 2024, by Christine Mawuwa, a resident of Rwangara Village, Nyantonzi Sub County, who had gone to the forest to relieve herself.

According to Julius Allan Hakiza, the spokesperson for the Albertine region police, Mawuwa immediately alerted local community members, who then informed the LC1 chairman of the village. The chairman subsequently reported the matter to Katanga Police Post.

Initial investigations suggest that the deceased may have been murdered before being dumped in the forest. Hakiza stated, “We suspect the deceased was killed and the body discarded in the forest.”

The body is currently at Masindi Hospital Mortuary. Police have called on the public to come forward if they have a missing relative or acquaintance, to help identify the body.

‘’We are continuing with investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and for further information or to assist in identification should visit Masindi Hospital Mortuary,’’ Hakiza advised.
