As a result, the motorcycle fell, instantly killing one passenger and leaving the rider and the second passenger severely injured.

A series of tragic road accidents in Masindi district this year has highlighted serious road safety concerns, with multiple incidents resulting in fatalities and injuries.
On October 26, two separate accidents left two people dead and ten others injured. The first incident involved two teenage boys who were struck and dragged by a speeding lorry carrying bagasse from Kinyara Sugar Factory on the Masindi-Biiso road.
The accident took place around 7 p.m. in Kinogozi cell, Karujubu division, killing both boys instantly. Later that day, another accident occurred when a vehicle traveling from Kampala to Masindi veered off the road and crashed into a tree in Bigando Cell, about five kilometers from Masindi town. Ten occupants sustained serious injuries, though there were no fatalities. They were taken to nearby health centers for medical treatment.
On October 18, a 10-year-old girl named Fwocparowth Nelifer tragically lost her life while crossing the Masindi–Paraa road in Kasenyi Bokwe Village. Around 5:40 p.m she was struck by a Toyota Hilux traveling from Pakwach to Kampala. Preliminary investigations attributed the accident to reckless driving, and the incident is documented under reference number TAR 151/2024.
Accidents in June and July also contributed to the district’s grim road safety record. In June, two people died and seven were critically injured when a Fuso tanker carrying molasses collided with a Bajaj motorcycle at Kisalizi Trading Center along the Hoima-Masindi Road.
In July, a local leader, LC1 chairperson James Ozele from Alimugonza Central Village, lost his life after being struck by a speeding tipper lorry on Masindi-Biiso Road in Kibbwona cell, Karujubu division.
Ozele had been returning from a burial in Buliisa district when he was killed instantly after being dragged by the vehicle.
These recurring incidents underscore the need for improved road safety measures, enforcement of traffic regulations, and increased driver awareness in the Masindi district to prevent further loss of life and injuries.
