Biiso Town Council approves establishment of recreational center

The center is expected to provide space for various activities, including sports and community library services.

Buliisa: The Biiso Town Council in Buliisa district has taken significant steps towards enhancing community wellbeing by approving the establishment of a recreational center on town council land in Kihuha cell. This decision came during a council meeting held yesterday at the Biiso Community Hall.

Town Clerk Godfrey Businge emphasized that the newly approved solid waste management framework will serve as a vital guide for managing garbage and maintaining cleanliness in the town.

‘’With the recent restrictions from the Ministry of Education and Sports on school playground usage, the need for a dedicated recreational center has become increasingly urgent,’’ he said.

The center is expected to provide space for various activities, including sports and community library services.

Council Speaker Nicholas Balisimaki expressed optimism about overcoming the challenges of poor garbage disposal and highlighted the importance of the recreational center in nurturing the talents of the youth.

He noted that as Biiso continues to develop, the recreational center will be essential for hosting community events and activities.

Councilor Lambert Ungey, representing Kigungu Ward, echoed this sentiment, noting the rapid development of Biiso and the necessity for a facility to support community engagement.

The councilors commended Mr. Businge for his dedication and hard work, urging the public to take an active role in maintaining sanitation and supporting community initiatives.
