Kitara FC appoints new head coach hours after sacking Ssenyondo

They now sit 14th in the league, firmly in the relegation zone.

Hoima: Kitara Football Club has swiftly appointed Wasswa Bbosa as its new head coach, just hours after parting ways with Brian Ssenyondo. The announcement was made by the club’s management on Monday, October 28, 2024.

Bbosa, who has a wealth of experience in Ugandan football, is expected to turn around the team’s fortunes after a disappointing start to the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season.

His coaching resume includes notable successes with Express FC, where he won the Uganda Premier League and the CECAFA Kagame Cup, along with stints at SC Villa, Tooro United FC, Gaddafi FC, and most recently, Mbarara City FC.

Kitara FC has had a rough opening to the current season, earning only 4 points from 6 matches one win, one draw, and four losses, including three defeats at home. They now sit 14th in the league, firmly in the relegation zone.

Wassa Bbosa will begin his tenure with a challenging fixture against URA FC at the Hamz Stadium  Nakivubo on Friday. He will be joined by a new technical team including:

  • George Lutalo – Assistant Coach
  • Hassan Mubiru – Assistant Coach
  • Richard Kansole – Goalkeeping Coach
  • Ayub Balyejusa – Fitness Trainer
  • Aloysius Makubuya – Team Doctor
  • Alex Mugisha – Team Statistician

Ssenyondo’s dismissal comes just months after he led Kitara FC to their first Uganda Cup victory, allowing them to compete at the continental level. The club expressed gratitude for his dedication, stating that the decision to part ways was made in the best interests of the club and its supporters.

As Kitara FC moves forward, the management reassured fans and stakeholders of their commitment to revitalizing the team’s performance and keeping everyone informed during this transition.
