STRANGE! Masindi man buys own coffin, digs grave
They recovered the coffin in Wanadi’s house before detaining him at Masindi Central Police Station.
Masindi: Police in Masindi district are holding Moses Wanadi, mid-30s, for allegedly buying his own coffin and digging a grave.
Wanadi, self-employed and a resident of Zebra Bulyago 2 Cell in Karujubu Division Masindi Municipality, dug a grave and reportedly bought a coffin.
Solomon Asiimwe, the LC3 Chairperson for Karujubu Division, told this publication Tuesday that about a week ago, Wanadi dug a grave, and on Sunday he got a call from one of a concerned residents that the same person has bought a coffin and kept it in his house.
‘’Like a week ago, residents found him digging a grave, and he chased them; then on Sunday, he bought a coffin and kept it in his house; this left residents shocked since no one had died in the area,’’ he explained.
Asiimwe disclosed that he immediately alerted police, which swung into action and recovered the coffin in Wanadi’s house before detaining him at Masindi Central Police Station.
The LC3 Chairman reports that the suspect has been terrorizing his family members, including the parents, and thus was arrested to find out his intentions of buying the coffin and digging the grave.
Asiimwe asks residents to always consult counselors or elders whenever they face any challenge, suspecting that Wanadi could have bought the coffin to commit suicide or murder one of his relatives since he has been terrorizing them.
He, however, said they are planning to have security in the same area to sensitize the public and tip them on how to live in harmony.
When contacted for a comment, Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of Wanadi and said he is detained at Masindi CPS but couldn’t divulge details since he was still in a meeting.
