The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has revoked the registration of the Ker Kwaro Acholi constitution for Apire’s faction.
This action was taken in response to concerns raised by the faction led by Rwot Apire Richard Santo.
According to Ms. Tugumisirize Marion, signing on behalf of the URSB Registrar General, the constitution was deemed misleading, inaccurate, and containing illegal endorsements.
Interestingly, these issues were not initially flagged during the registration process.
As a result, the constitution governing the cultural institution is set to be expunged in accordance with Section 13 of the Registration of Documents Act, Cap. 81.
On Monday, June 17, 2024, the Ker Kwaro Acholi Apire faction announced the election of flag bearers for Ker Kwaro Acholi.
These elections followed the provisions outlined in the Ker Kwaro Acholi Constitution 2023, the Rules of Procedures for the Conduct of Elections 2023, and the Code of Conduct for Meetings of Rwodi 2023.
Notably, Rwot Peko John Lugayi of Pajule-Palwo was elected as the Speaker, with Rwot George Nyeko of Lokung Chiefdom serving as the deputy.
Rwot Apire Richard Santo of Atyak emerged as the elected Paramount Chief of Acholi. He will be deputized by Rwot John Obita Ogenga of Koch and Rwot Collins Atiko Mutu II of Patiko, representing East and West Acholi, respectively.
