TERRIBLE! Masindi electrician hangs himself

‘’After hours of searching in vain, a family member discovered his shoes and a ladder at the jack-fruit tree, and his body was dangling on the rope, we are yet to find out the exact cause of the incident’’

Masindi: Residents of Binyinya Cell in Nyangahya Division Masindi Municipality were left in shock on Sunday morning after finding their own hanging dead on a jack-fruit tree next to his house

The deceased, identified as Stephen Mugabi, 32, an electrician and a resident of the same area, was discovered by family members in the jackfruit tree after hours of searching.

Jovans Kabarole, the area LC1 chairperson, told this news portal Monday morning that Mugabi went missing on Saturday around 8 p.m. and a manhunt was conducted, but in vain.

Kabarole asserted that the next day in the morning, during the search, a family member discovered the deceased’s shoes under the jackfruit tree, accompanied by the ladder and his body dangling on the rope.

The LC1 Chairperson said she immediately contacted the police, who rushed to the scene, retrieved the body, and handed it over to the relatives for burial.

Kabarole disclosed that though the deceased was a peaceful person in the area, he has been battling with mental illness and has been receiving treatment.

The politician condemned the act of committing suicide and appealed to her residents to always share their problems with friends or relatives for assistance instead of resorting to committing suicide.

Jacob Chepskori, the Masindi district police commander confirmed the incident, saying police had commenced its investigation into the matter to establish what killed Mugabi.

Mental health struggles can be incredibly difficult, and it’s essential for individuals facing such challenges to seek support and share their feelings with others.
