Hoima: In Hoima City, two male adults narrowly escaped a grisly fate at the hands of an enraged mob.
The incident unfolded in Kihomboza cell, West Division, where the victims, Vincent Ngabirano and David Zibaliyo, faced imminent lynching over alleged cattle theft. .
On Monday, April 15, 2024, Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, addressed the media regarding an incident that occurred on April 11, 2024, around 11:52 a.m.
According to Hakiza, the police received a distress call reporting an ongoing lynching of individuals.
Upon arriving at the scene in Kihomboza cell, West Division, the police discovered two male adults, Vincent Ngabirano and David Zibaliyo, both injured.
They were found alongside a motorcycle with the registration number UFQ 756S Bajaj.
Urgently, the duo was transported to the Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for critical medical treatment, while the motorcycle was secured at the Hoima central police station.
Ngabirano explained that he had travelled to Hoima to visit his girlfriend but was unable to locate her.
Unfortunately, the mob mistakenly identified them as cattle thieves.
However, conflicting information emerged, suggesting that the victims were actually following a mobile money agent who had recently withdrawn cash, intending to steal from her.
