Bukedea: The authorities in Bukedea town council in Bukedea district this morning conducted the swearing in of the new elected land board committee into the office.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Bukedea town council hall, officiated by Bukedea Chief Administrative Officer James Luyimbazi.
According to Mr. Luyimbazi, the land board committee has the primary role of mediating land-related conflicts and boundary demarcations.
He said once the land board committee gets divided, cases of land will be overloaded in courts of law.
“Today we are swearing you into power; please give service to our people and let’s harmonize issues within the community,” said Mr. Luyimbazi.

Vicent Akol, the acting town clerk of Bukedea town council, told this publication that the town council has been facing challenges in terms of the land board committee.
“The outgone land board committee’s term came to an end, so we have been working without that committee. We are happy that today we are conducting the swearing-in ceremony for the new committee,” said Mr. Akol.
Mr. David Okaali, the new land board chairperson elect, said he is going to work in accordance with the law.
“Today we have been sworn in, and I want to promise that we are going to follow the law while pursuing our duties,” said Mr. Okaali.
