Hoima Deputy RDC arrested over alleged assault

“The case involves allegations of assault and malicious damage to a mobile phone under CRB 317/2026,” Hakiza says.

Hoima: Police in Hoima have confirmed the arrest of Deputy Resident District Commissioner Christopher Aine over allegations of assaulting Henry Byabazaire in June 2026.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine South Regional Police spokesperson, says Byabazaire reported that Aine assaulted him on June 9, 2026, in the office of the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department.

Hakiza says police investigated the complaint and submitted the case file to the Resident State Attorney for legal advice.

He explains that the file was returned with guidance requiring the suspect to record a statement, which Aine subsequently did before the Regional Criminal Investigations Department officer.

“The case involves allegations of assault and malicious damage to a mobile phone under CRB 317/2026,” Hakiza says.

He adds that police will resubmit the file to the Resident State Attorney for further management.

Hakiza has appealed to the complainant and members of the public to remain calm as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, Byabazaire says the alleged assault stemmed from a land dispute.

Police have not yet disclosed whether Aine will be granted police bond.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and Aine is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
