Hoima: Police in Hoima are holding Anania Nabimanya, the former contestant LC3 for Kabaale Sub County in Hoima district, and four others on allegations of cattle theft.
According to residents, the former LC3 contestant had a crew of thieves, and he has been acting as a master planner who steals and hands over to his colleagues for marketing.
The residents also allege that Nabimanya was chased from Lake Albert on the speeding motorcycle, escaped, and locked himself in the house. When joint security forces opened the door, Nabimanya had already escaped but was arrested hiding in the latrine.
Mzee Kyamanwa Kasolo told www.ugreports.com that he has been reporting cases of losing his cattle for the last four months without yielding fruit.
The angry cattle keeper disclosed that he has so far lost 20 high-breed cows and 15 goats.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of Nabimanya and three others, saying they are currently detained at Kitoba Police Station on allegations of cattle theft.
Hakiza told this publication that after the arrest of Nabimanya, a team of joint security forces was mounted along the Lake Albert shores, and they managed to arrest another person who is suspected to have been hired by the Nabimanya and the crew to steal cattle.
‘’We introduced a canine dog, which helped us arrest the fifth person who is suspected to have been hired by the former LC3 contestant and his crew; currently, we have five suspects in the custom,’’ he added.
The regional police mouthpiece asserted that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
