Buliisa farmer hangs self dead after watching television

“We encourage people experiencing difficulties to seek guidance and counselling instead of suffering in silence,” Mugisa said.

Buliisa: Residents of Bubwe Village in Bubwe Parish, Biiso Sub-county, Buliisa District were left shocked after a 26-year-old man was found dangling dead on a tree on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Friday Aguma, a peasant farmer and resident of the area.

According to Solomon Mugisa, the Albertine North Regional Community Liaison Officer and Acting Regional Police Spokesperson, Aguma was last seen on Saturday night after spending time watching television at a neighbour’s home before returning to his residence.

Mugisa said that at about 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, a resident identified as Okumu Vincent discovered Aguma’s body hanging on tamarind tree near his home and alerted local authorities.

“The matter was reported to the area chairman, who later informed police. Officers visited and documented the scene, obtained statements from relevant witnesses, and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death,” Mugisa said.

Police registered the case at Biiso Police Station under reference number SD/REF: 07/08/06/2026. “Relevant statements were obtained from the scene, the body was examined and later handed over to relatives for a decent burial,” Mugisa added.

Richard Cwinyaai, the LC1 Chairperson of Bubwe Village, said the deceased was generally on good terms with family members and community residents.

“He was staying alone, but according to relatives, he had no known conflicts and was not suffering from any illness. He also did not leave behind any written communication explaining what may have happened,” Cwinyaai said.

Mugisa noted that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He further appealed to members of the public facing personal challenges to seek support from family members, local leaders, counsellors, religious leaders, or relevant authorities.

“We encourage people experiencing difficulties to seek guidance and counselling instead of suffering in silence,” Mugisa said.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigations to report to the nearest police station.
