Ntungamo receives ballot papers for presidential, parliamentary leadership positions

Ntungamo: A total of 812 pallets containing ballot papers for the presidential and parliamentary elections were received on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Ntungamo Central Police Station.
The consignment was officially received by the Ntungamo District Returning Officer, Mr. Charles Wafula, in the presence of key district officials. These included the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Ms. Miriam Kagiga Mugisha, the District Internal Security Officer (DISO), and the District Police Commander (DPC). Political aspirants were also present, among them Kajara NRM flag bearer Hunter Bwenjeru Tukahairwa and Ruhaama Main independent candidate Hon. Henry Zinkulataire, alongside members of the media.
According to Mr. Wafula, the 812 pallets of ballot papers will be distributed to the five constituencies in Ntungamo District before being dispatched to individual polling stations on polling day.
He further noted that white transparent ballot boxes had already been delivered to the district a few weeks earlier as part of preparations for the general elections scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Mr. Wafula revealed that all voters will be verified using Biometric Voter Verification Kits (BVVKs) to confirm their eligibility before casting their ballots. He also encouraged voters to turn up in large numbers to participate in the electoral exercise.

Meanwhile, the Ntungamo District Resident District Commissioner, Ms. Miriam Kagiga Mugisha, assured the public of the safe arrival and secure storage of all electoral materials. She explained that the materials will be kept at the District Tally Centre located at the District Council offices, under tight security. The keys will be jointly held by the District Police Commander and the Electoral Commission, with security personnel deployed to guard the materials.
