Buruli parliamentary aspirant promises SACCO for religious leaders
The religious leaders prayed for President Museveni, Mugisa, and the country.

Masindi: Buruli County parliamentary aspirant in the 2026 general elections, Julius Mugisa, has pledged to establish and support a Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) for religious leaders in the county if elected Member of Parliament.
Mugisa, popularly known as Jerse26 and contesting as an independent candidate, made the pledge while addressing religious leaders during a special prayer session organized for him and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, seeking electoral victory and peace before, during, and after the elections.
The interfaith prayer, led by leaders from various religious denominations in Buruli County, was held on recently at Dove Football Club’s camp in Masindi Town.
Mugisa said that both he and President Museveni are committed to peace and unity, adding that the proposed SACCO would help improve the welfare and livelihoods of religious leaders across the county.
He urged residents of Buruli County to vote for both himself and President Museveni on January 15, saying their joint leadership would help deliver better services to the people.
Mugisa explained that he organized the prayer as a peace-loving Ugandan, noting that political instability affects all citizens regardless of political or religious affiliation.
The prayer was led by Rev. Christopher Munguacel of the Church of Uganda (Kigezi Diocese), representing the Anglican faith. He was assisted by Sheikh Musa Ireeta, Secretary for Social Services in Buruli Muslim County; Pastor David Olwal, representing Pentecostal churches; and Vasco Manana, a catechist from Kitanyata, representing the Catholic Church.
The religious leaders prayed for President Museveni, Mugisa, and the country.
Rev. Munguacel commended Mugisa for being a God-fearing leader, citing his commitment to putting God first in all his activities, including organizing the prayer.
The event was also attended by Steven Kabindi, a former contestant in the Buruli NRM parliamentary primaries, who announced his support for Mugisa in the general elections, saying they share similar aspirations for the development of Buruli County.
