OPM donates iron sheets, UGX 47.6mln to beneficiaries in Kagadi

Kagadi: The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has today delivered 1,250 pieces of iron sheets and dummy cheques worth UGX 47,615,000 to selected beneficiaries in Kagadi District.
The consignment was handed over by the State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs, Hon. Janepher Namuyangu Kacha, during a ceremony held at the Kagadi District boardroom.
Benefiting public institutions from Buyaga East Constituency include; Mabaale Secondary School which got 200 iron sheets), St. Elizabeth Catholic Sub Parish, Pachwa received 250 iron sheets and Kagadi Model Primary School got 200 iron sheets.
Institutions from Buyaga West Constituency that benefited from the program include; Muhorro Boys Catholic School (BCS) which received 300 iron sheets and Kyaterekera SDA Church got 300 iron sheets.
Minister Namuyangu revealed that UGX 47.6 million had been disbursed to support micro-projects in the district aimed at fostering socio-economic development.
She urged the beneficiaries to use both the iron sheets and the funds for their intended purposes, emphasizing accountability and impact.
“This support is meant to improve livelihoods and accelerate development in Kagadi. I urge all beneficiaries to ensure the resources are put to proper use,” Namuyangu said.
The minister also rallied the people of Bunyoro to continue supporting President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM government in the 2026 general elections, saying this would help safeguard the gains made so far.
Buyaga East MP Hon. Eric Musana commended the Prime Minister’s Office for the support but appealed for the fulfillment of other pledges, such as the promised iron sheets for Kagadi Secondary School.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kagadi, Caroline Nanshemeza, also lauded the government for supporting public institutions and urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the donations.
She called upon residents to vote for President Museveni in the upcoming elections to sustain social and economic transformation programs.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the government and their leaders for the initiative, noting that the iron sheets and funds will help improve infrastructure, housing, and general economic growth in the district.
