Former Masindi RDC Kirabira nominated to contest in NRM primaries for Wakiso Woman MP Seat

“I will first track the issues affecting my electorates, including land conflicts, education, and health, because they are well known,” she said.

Kampala: Rose Kirabira, the former Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Masindi District, has been officially nominated to contest in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for the Wakiso District Woman Member of Parliament seat.

Kirabira was nominated on Tuesday by NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi, who formally announced: “I hereby nominate Rose Kirabira to contest for Wakiso District Woman Member of Parliament.”

Speaking to journalists shortly after the nomination, Kirabira expressed confidence and emphasized her commitment to tackling key issues affecting the people of Wakiso.

“I will first track the issues affecting my electorates, including land conflicts, education, and health, because they are well known,” she said.

Kirabira brings extensive public service experience to the race. She previously served as RDC for Wakiso and Masindi districts, as well as Deputy RDC for Entebbe and Kampala Central.

Her nomination comes amid a wave of resignations from RDCs across the country who are joining active politics ahead of the 2026 general elections. A total of 32 RDCs have stepped down to vie for various elective positions on the NRM ticket.

Among them is Amlan Tumusiime, the former Kikuube RDC, who is contesting against incumbent Pius Wakabi for the Bugahya County MP seat in Hoima District.

In Kagadi, RDC Lillian Ruteraho recently handed over office to her deputy, Benjamin Tumusiime, as she prepares to contest for the Isingiro District Woman MP seat, also under the NRM flag.

The nomination process for NRM parliamentary and district chairperson aspirants is currently ongoing at the party’s headquarters in Kampala and is expected to attract intense competition in key regions.
