Three dead, seven injured as sugarcane truck overturns
The driver fled the scene and is currently being sought by police.

Kamuli: A tragic road accident involving a Tata truck transporting sugarcane claimed the lives of three people and left seven others injured on the Kamuli–Jinja highway at Nawanyago.
The incident occurred when the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.
According to ASP Michael Kasadha, spokesperson for Busoga North Police, the deceased have been identified as Koozala Nicholas, 25 of Itukulu Bukaya Zone, Nawanyago Sub-county, Kibikyo Derick, 16 of Bukula Village, Nawanyago and Ssajjabi Asadi, 26 of Buwolero-Mawolero Zone, Buwenge Rural, Jinja District.
All were reportedly riding on top of the loaded truck. The seven injured individuals were rushed to medical facilities, though their identities remain unknown.
The truck, bearing registration number UBM 106Q, has been impounded for inspection. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kamuli General Hospital for postmortem.
The driver fled the scene and is currently being sought by police. Authorities are urging transporters to avoid endangering lives by riding atop cargo, especially sugarcane loads.
