St. Joseph Chapel seeks 180 mln for church expansion

Gulu: St. Joseph Chapel in St. Joseph College Layibi, under Layibi Catholic Parish, is currently seeking a total of 180 million shillings to expand the church building size from 400 seats to 900 seats.
Rev. Fr. David Kolo Masaba, the chaplain of Saint Joseph College Layibb, told the congregation on Sunday, during the patron day of St. Joseph, that the current size of the church is too small to contain all the students during the holy mass.
He notes that on Sunday, when students came to attend the mass, some of them ended up attending the service from outside due to inadequate space.
In his address to the challenged, he reveals to the congregation the plan to expand the church so that it can accommodate up to 900 congregations. He added that the chapel has written the project proposal, and they are currently praying that their idea and proposal are supported to enable them to expand this church by six meters squared.
Fr. Kolo also appealed to the Gulu archdiocese, old boys under their association LACOBA, and well-wishers to support the expansion of the church.
Last Sunday, the Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese, most reverend Dr. John Baptist Odama, confirmed 90 students of St. Joseph College Layibi in the sacrament of confirmation.

St. Joseph Chapel, situated inside Layibi College, has been established since the inception of the school with the intention of teaching Catholic doctrine to every student enrolled at St. Joseph College Layibi. The chapel used to serve as a minor seminary where the formation of the young boys who would enter joint priesthood was done.
