Over 100 Christian believers to receive sacrament of confirmation at St. Luke Church Consecration

Kitgum: More than 100 Christian believers from across Mucwini Parish are set to receive the holy sacrament of Confirmation this Saturday, February 15, 2025, during the dedication and consecration of St. Luke Church.
Rev. Canon Concy Amigo, the Parish Priest of Mucwini Parish, confirmed that believers from various sub-parishes have undergone preparation for the sacrament. The sacred ceremony will take place on Saturday morning at St. Luke Church of Uganda, located in Pachua Pakuba, Mucwini West Subcounty, Kitgum District.
She made the announcement during the 9th Preparation Meeting for the St. Luke Church opening, held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the church site. The meeting brought together the joint committee for the church opening and the 48th St. Janani Luwum Commemoration Committee.
Rev. Willy Olango, the Diocesan Secretary of Kitgum Diocese, stated that the church will undergo two significant rites on February 15: Dedication and Consecration.
The ceremony will be officiated by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, and the church will be officially received by the church leadership.
Olango further elaborated that the dedication and consecration rituals will include the blessing of the church drum before the opening, as well as the eight-sided baptismal font, lectern, pulpit, altar, chancel table, chalice, and the center of the church building.
St. Luke Church of Uganda has been built with the generous support of retired military officer Maj. Gen. Fred Tolit Ociti and his family. The church will be officially commissioned on Saturday, February 15, 2025, and will also mark the beginning of the 48th St. Janani Luwum Commemoration on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
