15-year-old boy killed by stone in Masindi
He added that this prompted him to inform Masindi police, who later rushed to the site and removed the huge stone from the boy’s body.
Masindi: Shock engulfed the residents of Hanga village in Labbongo Sub County, Masindi district, after discovering the dead body of a 15-year-old boy under a huge stone at a stone quarry site on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
The deceased has only been identified as Fikiri, a resident of the neighboring Nyakyanika village in the same subcounty.
Wilson Mugisa, a councilor representing Kihaguzi parish in Labbongo Sub County, told ugreports.co.ug that he was informed by the quarry site operators about the unfortunate incident.
Mugisa added that he went to the site, where he was told that the deceased had climbed and sat on a broken stone that rolled and fell on him, instantly killing him.
He added that this prompted him to inform Masindi police, who later rushed to the site and removed the huge stone from the boy’s body.
The quarry site was the source of the stones that Communications Construction Company (CCCC) tarmacked the Kisanja-Paraa road but later handed it back to the owners, the family of the late William Kyoomya Rumbeiha.
The councilor therefore appealed to the parents in the area to avoid sending their children to the site that he said was declared out of bounds by the sub-county authorities after realizing the dangers it posed to the people.
Bosco Njangu, a relative of the deceased, said Fikiri left home early in the morning to collect stones for his boss when he suddenly met his death.
Police had, by press time, picked up the body and conveyed it to Masindi main hospital for a postmortem.
The District Police Commander, Jacob Chepskor, confirmed the reports but referred us to the Albertine regional police spokesperson for details about them.
