Three children allegedly defiled in Mabira Forest
Butoto says efforts to trace the suspects are on as investigations are underway.
Buikwe: Police in Buikwe district have commenced investigations into alleged defilement of three children who had gone to collect firewood in the forest.
The case was reported to Njeru Police Station.
Helen Butoto, the Sezzibwa Region Police Spokesperson told this publication on Wednesday that the case was registered to the police on December 8, 2024, at about 8 pm.
It’s alleged that the incident happened when the victims whose identities have been concealed had gone to collect firewood in Mabira Forest.
‘’The victims aged between 11 and 13 allege that they were defiled on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Matala. Village in Mabira Forest, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe district, when they had gone To collect firewood,’’ Butoto stated.
The regional police mouthpiece asserted that while in the forest at the Matala area, they were arrested by an unidentified man dressed in civilian clothes claiming to be an Askari guarding the forest. The victims were, however, illegally in the forest on a Sunday day.
‘’He then tied the victims threatening to take them to police and demanding tell contacts of their parents in order to send him money for their rescue,’’ Butoto said, stressing that in due course the suspect allegedly performed sexual intercourse with the victims.
Butoto stressed that after the act, he left the victims to go back home. On reaching, they narrated what happened to them.
