Mr. Waiswa was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Butende Village, Buyanga Sub-Count, Bugweri District.

Bukedea: Speaker Annet Anita Among, who also serves as the woman member of Parliament for Bukedea, attended the burial of Mr. Ramathan Waiswa, the brother of MP Abdu Katuntu, representing Bugweri County.

This solemn occasion took place on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Tragically, both Mr. Waiswa and his driver, Mr. Waiswa Ronald, lost their lives in a road accident along the Pallisa – Kumi Road on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

During the funeral service in Bugweri, Speaker Among delivered a heartfelt message emphasizing true love, togetherness, and friendship, which she believes have characterized the 11th Parliament.

Despite their differing political affiliations, she expressed solidarity with Hon. Kituntu and his family during this difficult time, emphasizing that there are moments when politics should take a back seat to compassion and shared humanity.

Hon. Katuntu received praise from Speaker Among, who described him as an amiable and calm politician, a rare quality that has garnered him respect and numerous friends.

Their professional association during their time on the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises (COSASE) left a lasting impression on her. She commended his commitment and reliability, transcending political boundaries.

Drawing from the Bible (specifically Ecclesiastes 3:1–11), Speaker Among reminded the bereaved family that life has its appointed seasons, birth and death. She encouraged them to find strength in their faith and trust in God’s timing, which often differs from our own.
