SAD! Pupil dies, dozens injured in Kitgum road accident

Kitgum: A Fuso truck carrying the Labongo Layamo Subcounty Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) team, along with some participants from Mucwini Subcounty, was reportedly involved in a road accident.
The incident happened on the evening of Thursday, August 8, 2024, on Chua Road at Lagot Alima Village, Onyala Parish, in Namokora North Subcounty, Kitgum District.
Tragically, one of the pupils is reported to have died on the spot, while many other pupils, teachers, and subcounty delegates sustained injuries.

According to Hon. Lapyem Emmanuel, the district LCV Vice Chairperson, all the injured persons were rushed to Kitgum General Hospital and are under the attention of the medical team.
The Kitgum district RDC, Mr. Ssegawa Jimmy Ebil, said they coordinated an emergency response and expressed his condolences to the family who lost their child in the accident.
He, however, asked the community to remain calm as the medical team continues to care for the injured.
