Rwandan national commits suicide in Kabale
The incident was reclassified as a suicide, prompting the opening of CRB 140/2024 for further investigation.

Kabale: Police in Kabale District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Rwandan national who allegedly committed suicide in a motor vehicle near the Katuna border in Katuna town council.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday around 09:30 am, involved Nsengyiyumva Emmanuel, a 38-year-old male from Gicumbi, Rwanda, residing in Rubaya sub-county.
According to Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi Region, Emmanuel collided with a trailer bearing registration number KBF 211S/ZC 4317 at URA parking near the Katuna border. The trailer, traveling from Katuna to the Gatuna border in Rwanda at a low speed, resulted in the fatal accident, leading to Emmanuel’s demise.
Maate revealed that the case was registered as a fatal accident under Kabale TAR 013/2024; the case was later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) upon preliminary evidence suggesting deliberate actions by the deceased.
The incident was reclassified as a suicide, prompting the opening of CRB 140/2024 for further investigation.
The scene of the crime was attended to by CPL Tumwebaze Herbert, a police officer attached to traffic, who documented relevant statements and oversaw the retrieval of the body.
The deceased was then transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination, while inquiries into the matter remain ongoing.
