President Museveni to Address 300 Bamasaaba at Munyonyo Resort Hotel

Additionally, Masiga stated that the cultural leader of the Bamasaaba people will address his subjects in Munyonyo before the President steps in.

Kampala: President Yoweri Museveni is set to address about 300 Bamasaaba people at the Munyonyo Resort Hotel on April 15 and 16, 2025.

This was confirmed to this news portal by the spokesperson for the Bamasaaba Cultural Institution, Mr. Steven Masiga.

The President will engage with Bamasaaba drawn from various sectors, including clan heads, ministers in the cultural institution, and other notable members of the community.

Mr. Masiga added that the President’s address will focus on guiding both elders and youths in the establishment of the cultural institution.

The President is expected to highlight important issues such as the need to take government programs seriously for economic empowerment, promote patriotism, foster community harmony, and emphasize the role of the family in nation-building.

Masiga noted, “Of course, the President is at liberty to guide us on any matter he deems necessary for our well-being as a cultural institution.”

Additionally, Masiga stated that the cultural leader of the Bamasaaba people will address his subjects in Munyonyo before the President steps in.

The delegation from Masaabaland to Munyonyo will be coordinated by Hon. Irene Manghali, the Commissioner for Public Engagements in Inzuymasaaba.

The criteria for selecting attendees will follow the guidance of the Family Peace Uganda organization, under the leadership of Mr. Ezra Bakundika, the Executive Head.

Recently, the Sebaruli visited Masaabaland to bid farewell to the Bamasaaba people as he prepares to hand over the chairmanship of the Uganda Kings Association to a newly elected cultural leader.

His Royal Highness Mwogezi Butamanya, who was in Mbale recently, was accompanied by the Executive Director of the Family Peace Organization, Mr. Ezra Bakundika, who initiated the program aimed at bringing families together.

The Bamasaaba Cultural Institution has a rich history, having been in existence for over 15 years.

The late Umukuka Wilson Wamimbi reigned from 2010 to 2015, followed by the late Mushikor, who served from 2015 to 2020. In 2023, Umukuka III was gazetted and is expected to reign until August 2028.

Plans to establish cultural leaders in the early 1960s were disrupted due to the turbulent politics of the time, which led to the shelving of kingdoms.
