Patients share ward at Kihungya Health Centre
Kamanyire is therefore appealing for the intervention of the district leadership in order to improve on the service delivery.
Buliisa: Patients at Kihungya Health Centre III in Kihungya Sub County Buliisa district are sharing the same ward as a result of inadequate infrastructure.
The health facility that has just been elevated from Health Center II is serving a number of community members, both in Kihungya and neighboring sub counties.
Sylvia Kamanyire, the health center in charge, said the facility has only one building, which acts as a general ward for all patients.
‘’The ward also acts as the Outpatient Department; all patients are sharing this ward; there is no privacy, and it’s affecting service delivery,’’ she decried.
Kamanyire stressed that since the health center was elevated, they are registering a high number of patients, even those from other subcounties.
‘’Apparently we are supposed to admit patients, but we don’t have enough space; some patients go unattended.’’
She disclosed that the absence of wards and the incomplete general ward being constructed at the facility have forced them to mix up patients.
‘’Recently, we received health equipment from the Ministry of Health, but it is stored at the subcounty headquarters due to a lack of space,’’ she said, adding that the equipment is lying idle.
Kamanyire is therefore appealing for the intervention of the district leadership in order to improve on the service delivery.
Kenneth Tumusiime, the Kihungya subcounty LC3 Chairperson says the challenge is attributed to an incomplete general ward at the facility that was abandoned by a contractor.
‘’Currently, some patients are given referrals to Biiso Health Center IV due to inadequate structures, but we hope if this structure is completed, it will create space for work.’’
