Over 30 escape death in Lamwo road accident
This caused the vehicle to lose control, veer off the road, and overturn, resulting in injuries to the passengers.
Lamwo: A total of 33 people were injured in a road accident along the Palabek Ogili-Paluda road in Lamwo District.
The accident involved a Fuso Fighter vehicle, registration number UAR 221X, which was branded with the Pepsi logo.
The vehicle was transporting market vendors from Palabek Ogili Subcounty to Palabek Kal Town Council when the driver attempted to navigate a pothole located about 700 meters from the market square.
This caused the vehicle to lose control, veer off the road, and overturn, resulting in injuries to the passengers.
According to Inspector Oloya Joe, the Acting Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson, the vehicle is suspected to have been in poor mechanical condition.
Police responded to the scene, and the vehicle was later towed to Palabek Kal Police Station. The injured were rushed to Palabek Ogili Health Center III, with some being referred to Kitgum General Hospital for further treatment.
Among the injured are Chal Emmanuel, Amolo Betty, Ayet Mary, Ayuu Evaline, Achan Saudah, Lakica Patience, Apoo Evaline, Aciri Ketty, Ayaa Filder, Ayaa Monica, Lalam Ruth, Latabu Mary, Aromorach Proscovia, and Oyera Betty, among others.
Inspector Oloya has urged the public to exercise caution, especially during the festive season, when road safety is crucial.
