Masindi parents reject head teacher over poor performance
They also accused the head teacher of mismanaging school funds without the consent of the school board of governors.
Masindi: Parents and the board of governors at Nyangahya Community Secondary School in Nyangahya Division Masindi Municipality have rejected their head teacher.
Rev. Cranmer Kigongo, the school head teacher, has been rejected on the grounds that he is declining in performance and has poor relationships with teachers, among others.
This was revealed during a meeting that was convened by the chairperson of the board of governors with other stakeholders and held at the school premises on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Parents also accused the head teacher of being arrogant and not respecting anyone, including the school board of governors, LC, and the parish leaders where the school is located.
They also accused the head teacher of mismanaging school funds without the consent of the school board of governors.
The parents and school board of governors want the head teacher to leave the school so the deputy can take over to run the school administration.
Godfrey Baharagate, the senior education officer of Masindi municipality, asked the board of governors to sign a petition demanding the transfer of the head teacher and submit it to his office.
He also said they will carry out independent investigations on the accusations levied against the head teacher for other action to take place. He therefore called for calmness as they worked on the issue.
Samuel Tumusiime, the diocesan education coordinator for Masindi Kitara Diocese, said the diocese is aware of the complaints and is working together with the school board to handle the issue.
He, however, asked residents and the school board of governors to be patient as they handled the matter.
However, when contacted, the embattled head teacher, Rev. Cranmer Kigongo, declined to comment on the matter, saying he would release an official statement after a meeting to be held next week on Monday.
