Masindi: Leaders in Masindi district officially launched the second phase of the construction of Kijunjubwa Seed Secondary School in Kijunjubwa Town Council, Buruli County, on Tuesday.
The Shs1.6 billion project, part of the UgiFt initiative, has been awarded to Imperial Construction Technical Services Limited. The project is expected to be completed within two and a half months.
The initial contract for the project was awarded to CMD Investments Ltd, but the company failed to meet the stipulated deadline of two and a half years.
Moses Kiwanika Ssebyala, director of CMD Investments Limited, told this publication last year that internal challenges hindered the timely completion of the project.
He also cited delays in receiving structural designs and the slow commissioning of construction as contributing factors to the delay.
On Tuesday, district authorities handed over the project to Imperial Construction Technical Services Limited to finalize the construction.
Sheillah Maali, the Operations Manager at Imperial Construction Technical Services, who represented the contractor, assured the leaders that the company would complete the project on time and deliver high-quality work.
Samson Natsambwa, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), emphasized that the contractor would only be paid upon completion.
He urged the contractor to adhere to the timeline and ensure the quality of work. Natsambwa also appealed to stakeholders to actively monitor and support the project to ensure successful delivery.
Monica Kiiza, the Acting District Education Officer, expressed her excitement over the commencement of the project and thanked both the district and the government for funding it.
Kiiza acknowledged the financial sacrifices parents and guardians have made in pursuit of secondary education and urged them to enroll their children at Kijunjubwa Seed Secondary School.
She also urged parents to refrain from engaging their children in labor, as it could detract from their educational focus and performance.
