Masindi boda boda rider forcefully bathed, dismissed over poor hygiene
He had a sticking smell caused by poor hygiene, and in addition, he had lice, which made him uncomfortable at the stage.

Masindi: The boda boda riders under their umbrella, the Masindi Motorcycle Operators Association (MAMOA), have dismissed Sudaisi Byaruhanga over a sticking smell resulting from poor hygiene.
Byaruhanga was the association’s member and was staging at the Rotary Stage in Masindi Town.
According to Joseph Kato, the chairperson of the rotary stage, their own had a sticking smell caused by poor hygiene, and in addition, he had lice, which made him uncomfortable at the stage. ‘’We were no longer getting customers due to the sticking smell from him; he had lice and was uncomfortable at the stage,’’ he added.
Kato further added that, as a result of the sticking smell and poor hygiene, they forcefully took Byaruhanga to Kijungu Swamp on the 7th of this month and bathed him, though he had resisted. ‘’At first, he rejected being bathed, but we used force to bathe him, and this was as a result of the sticking smell and lice from him,’’ he said.
He noted that the stage members unanimously agreed to dismiss Byaruhanga for his bad character, poor hygiene, and theft allegations, among others, adding that they have already drafted the dismissal letter, which is waiting for approval from the MAMOA chairperson.
Kato also warned people against giving their motorcycles to Byaruhanga to transport people or goods, vowing that whoever is caught will pay a fine of 100,000 shillings. ‘’People should not give their motorcycles to Byaruhanga; if we find him operating boda boda during the day or night, the owner of the motorcycles will be fined 100,000 shillings,’’ he warned.
Bernard Musinguzi Wandera, the chairperson of MAMOA, acknowledged the dismissal of Byaruhanga, saying that for several times he has been receiving complaints from colleagues and sometimes customers.
‘’I have for several times received complaints from his colleagues and customers over his characters of poor hygiene, alleged theft of customers’ goods, and others. We reached the conclusion of dismissing him,’’ he said, adding that he has already written a letter dismissing Byaruhanga and that he is not allowed to operate boda boda within the district.
We couldn’t trace the whereabouts of Byaruhanga to comment on his suspension.
