Manafwa residents reject Kitutu’s hoes amidst Karamoja ironsheet saga

The iron sheet saga, in which Kitutu was accused of diverting materials meant for vulnerable communities to benefit her own family, has severely eroded public trust.

Manafwa: In a scathing rebuke, residents of Manafwa District have rejected Hon. Goret Kitutu’s offer of hoes to households, citing deep distrust and disappointment in her leadership.

The incumbent Woman MP’s gesture is widely perceived as a desperate attempt to regain public support, which has significantly declined due to her handling of key government projects most notably the infamous Karamoja Ironsheet scandal.

Sources close to Kitutu’s camp admit the MP is struggling to rebuild traction, with many voters expressing dissatisfaction over her alleged misuse of government resources.

The iron sheet saga, in which Kitutu was accused of diverting materials meant for vulnerable communities to benefit her own family, has severely eroded public trust.

“It’s not about the hoes it’s about the principle,” said a resident of Butiru Town Council, one of the areas where the offer was outrightly rejected. “We don’t want to be bribed with our own resources. We want a leader who will genuinely serve us, not just their own interests.”

Kitutu’s team has been distributing hoes in several sub-counties, including Bugobero, Kuffu, Bukhadala, Bwagogo, Bunyiza, and among the Teso community. Yet the gesture has been met with widespread skepticism, with many residents suspecting the tools may be part of another government project intended for a different region.

“We request the Commissioner of Inquiry to investigate this matter and avoid another scandal,” said a concerned citizen.

The role of a Woman MP demands qualities such as accountability, transparency, and selflessness. Unfortunately, Kitutu’s leadership has been tainted by persistent allegations of corruption and nepotism.

“A good leader puts the needs of their people above personal gain,” said a local leader. “They are transparent, accountable, and work tirelessly for their constituents. Sadly, Hon. Kitutu’s track record has fallen short of these expectations.”

As election season intensifies, the people of Manafwa District are calling for a new era of leadership one that listens to their concerns, addresses their needs, and governs with integrity.

Kituntu could not be readily reached for a comment.
