Man drowns at tourist site in Pader

The body was transported to Gulu for an autopsy.

Pader: Tragedy struck in Pader District when a 31-year-old man, identified as Langalanga Jacob, drowned in the Aswa River.

Jacob was a resident of Palaro, Gulu District.

According to the Aswa East Regional Police Public Relations Officer, IP Oloya Joe, Jacob was visiting the Eden Tourist Site with family and friends for a tour and refreshments.

“While at the site, Jacob and two others decided to explore the falls. Unfortunately, he slipped and fell into the water,” said IP Oloya Joe.

Despite efforts to rescue him, Jacob drowned. His body was later retrieved with the assistance of locals.

A case of death by drowning has been registered at Angagura Police Station. Statements have been collected from relatives and witnesses to aid in the ongoing investigation.

The body was transported to Gulu for an autopsy.

This incident highlights the need for increased safety measures and awareness at tourist sites to prevent similar tragedies.
