Man commits suicide after allegedly defiling daughter
Kyankwanzi: A 46-year-old man in Itendero A Village, Byelima Sub County, Kyankwanzi district, has committed suicide by hanging after allegedly defiling his biological daughter.
The deceased is Stephen Mukali, who was found dangling on a mango tree in the wee hours of Sunday, April 28, 2024, at around 2 a.m. It is alleged that Mukali defiled his daughter, who is 15 years old.
Grace Namboozo, the wife of the deceased, says that she returned from a nearby burial and found her husband defiling their daughter in the garden, prompting her to sound the alarm.
The deceased fled the scene after Namboozo raised the alarm, and his body was later discovered by neighbors. Namboozo says that she had no problems with her husband and cannot understand why he defiled their daughter.
According to residents, the deceased was a quiet and inspiring person to some people, and therefore, defiling his daughter is a painful and shameful act that might have led him to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, Peter Namurwa, the Itendelo A village chairperson, has condemned the acts of defilement and suicide. He calls upon media personalities to continue sensitizing the populace to always refrain from such horrible actions.
By press time, police had already reached the scene, pending the postmortem.
