DRAMA! Arua MP exchanges blows with DSTV technician over girlfriend
A fierce fight erupted between the two men, each claiming to have a relationship with Eyotaru.
Arua: In Arua City, the resurrection of Jesus Christ took an unexpected turn as a horny Member of Parliament (MP) and a DSTV technician engaged in a heated brawl over a girlfriend.
The drama unfolded on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024, at the Dreamland Hotel in Arua City.
The Member of Parliament representing Ayivu West constituency in Arua city, Lematia John, exchanged hot blows with a DSTV technician known as Ariko Jimmy at Dreamland Hotel in Arua district on Easter Sunday.
According to the details obtained from Arua police it is alleged that Hon. Lematia John and a lady named Eyotaru Faith went swimming at Dreamland Hotel. Meanwhile, Ariko Jimmy, a technician with DSTV, had gone to the same hotel earlier.
When Ariko Jimmy saw the legislator and the lady coming out of his vehicle together, he confronted them, and the lady, upon seeing Jimmy, entered back in the vehicle and asked the driver to drive her away.
A fierce fight erupted between the two men, each claiming to have a relationship with Eyotaru.
They were, however, separated by the staff at the hotel.
According to Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, by the time the district police commander and the team arrived at Dreamland Hotel, they found that both men had gone to register their complaints at Arua City Central Division, from where they were directed to go and report at Arua District police headquarters at Odumi in Vurra.
Ariko James, 34 years old, an Itesot by tribe, a technician with DSTV, resident of Nsambya cell, Arua City Central Division accordingly registered a case of assault on him by Lematia John, MP Ayivu West Constituency, which occurred on Easter Day at Dreamland Hotel in Kuluva parish, Arua district Police headquarters with SD Ref 21/31/03/2024.
On the other hand, Lematia John, 40 years old, MP Ayivu West Constituency, Arua City, and resident of Okaliba village, Ayivu West Division, Arua City, reported a case of threatening violence against him by one Ariko James, which occurred the same day, same time, and same place, under SD Ref 20/31/03/2024.
Statements were recorded from both parties and put in the file.
Findings indicate that Eyotaru Faith, 25 years old, had a long-term love relationship with Ariko Jimmy, the technician with DSTV, and formerly she was working with one of the banks in Arua City.
She allegedly separated from Jimmy last year and also left the job at the bank.
She then fell in love with Hon. Lematia John, the MP for Ayivu West Constituency, who connected for her another job as Relationship Officer at Victoria University in Kampala and rented for her a house in the Ntinda area.
However, Hon. Lematia John claims that this lady is now his wife since he is the one renting for her and has bought land to constructa house for her. On the other hand, Jimmy claims that they are still in touch with the same lady.
Police case files have remained open pending any eventualities over the matter.
When contacted, Ariko confirmed that Eyotaru is his girlfriend and Lematia is using his position to intimidate him and take away his wife by using his position as a member of parliament.
‘’The same MP has threatened me many times on the phone to leave faith. I told him, Lematia, you are married in church. Which law allows a married man to marry a second wife?.’’
Ariko added that ‘’On Easter Sunday, after getting him with my girlfriend, he gave me a 20 kg blow on my back. I’m so disappointed in such leaders who are supposed to help us; instead, they are taking what we have.’’
On the other hand, the Member of Parliament for Ayivu West Constituency declined to comment on the matter, saying he was still busy with the catechists in church when contacted on the phone by press time.
“The unfortunate part is I’m in public. I’m in church with the catechists for Easter Monday. I would have loved to give information, but I’m in the wrong place,’’ he claimed.
The scuffle between the two has been ongoing for a long time, according to rumors, until the two were resurrected with Christ on Easter Sunday.
