Christian urged to support the Church as missionary cuts funding

Kitgum: Christian believers in the Kitgum Vicariate have been called upon to support their local churches now that external missionary funding has ceased.
This appeal was made by Catechist Ocaya Charles during his sermon at the Tuesday Morning Mass on July 22nd at Christ the King Church in Pandwong Division, Kitgum Municipality.
According to Ocaya, this is a critical time for the Church, as it no longer receives the kind of missionary aid it once did. He urged Christians to stand firm in their faith and offer support to the Church as a reflection of their love and commitment to God.
Catechist Ocaya also emphasized the importance of belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, drawing on the example of Mary Magdalene, who was the first to witness the risen Christ and shared the message with the apostles.
He noted that Mary Magdalene and Simon Peter later spread the gospel in regions such as Ephesus, modern-day Turkey and France for over 30 years.
Referencing the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, he reminded the congregation that, “Jesus died for us all and rose from death for our sins. We must take faith and live a new life in Christ as we search for God. Our lives must stand in Him, for Jesus is our helper and is always with us.”
The date, July 22nd, also marks the annual Feast Day of Mary Magdalene in the Catholic Church, making the message especially poignant.
