Hoima: The King (Omukama) of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, Dr. Solomon Gafusa Iguru I, has been airlifted to Kampala for further medical attention.

The transfer took place on Thursday around 12:30pm using a UPDF helicopter, with the Omukama being transported on a stretcher and accompanied by Omugo Margret Karuga Adyeeri and Prince Richard Kitahimbwa, the principal private secretary to the King.

In a statement from Andrew Kirungi Byakutaaga, the Kingdom’s prime minister, it was indicated that the Omukama’s health is not considered critical.

However, Fred Rucunya Mugenyi, the chief prince of the kingdom, noted that the King’s condition had worsened, prompting the presidential decision to arrange for the airlift.

While many observers expressed hope for the King’s recovery, there were also concerns regarding the deterioration of his condition.
