Bukedea targets to vaccinate over 200,000 against Yellow Fever

“We have covered all schools, and on April 6, 2024, we are rolling out to the community outreach points," said Dr. Odeke.

Bukedea: Authorities in Bukedea district on Friday April 5, 2024 officially launched the vaccination of yellow fever exercise in the district.

The vaccination exercise was launched at Bukedea township primary school in Bukedea town council in Bukedea district.

Dr. Emmanuel Odeke Okalany, the district health officer, says the district target is to vaccinate over 200,000 people.

“We have covered all schools, and on April 6, 2024, we are rolling out to the community outreach points,” said Dr. Odeke.

Ms. Mary Akol, the Bukedea district chairperson, says all the district councilors and the bukedea town council councilors have been vaccinated.

“We started by vaccinating all the councilors and the district leaders to show other people my appeal to the community members to be vaccinated,”  said Ms. Akol.

Ms. Akol also added that the yellow fever vaccination card is to be used for life; therefore, those who are dodging to get the vaccine will not be allowed to take a flight outside Uganda.
