Museveni eulogizes Late MP Besisira as staunch NRM supporter

He described him as a true African man, while Nabbanja praised him as a bold and wise leader

Kagadi: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has mourned the late Ignatius Besisira Akiiki, describing him as a steadfast National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporter and dedicated servant of the people.

Besisira, the former Member of Parliament for Buyaga East Constituency, passed away on Sunday at Mulago Hospital and was laid to rest on Friday in Gayaza Cell, Pachwa Town Council, Kagadi District.

In a speech delivered by Vice President Retired Major Jessica Alupo, President Museveni expressed deep sorrow over his passing and praised him as a true NRM cadre who excelled in addressing people’s problems.

The President acknowledged the loss of a committed public servant and contributed 10 million shillings towards the burial expenses.

Other dignitaries, including Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development Matia Kasaija, and Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah, also eulogized Besisira.

Kasaija described him as a true African man, while Nabbanja praised him as a bold and wise leader.

Minister of Local Government Raphael Magyezi recognized Besisira as a corruption-free leader who will be remembered as one of Uganda’s heroes.

Presidential advisor Rwabwogo Edrick reflected that Kamata Cell produces heroes and assured that Besisira’s children would continue his work and complete his unfinished tasks.

Besisira’s family, led by Stephen Twesige Rulekere and Businge Gerald, thanked President Museveni for his support during their father’s treatment and burial.

They also expressed gratitude to the NRM government for its care and love shown to their family.

Officials from Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom also expressed their appreciation for Besisira’s contributions to the kingdom, encouraging leaders from the region to follow his example of diligent service.
