Police are continuing to investigate both cases.
Pader: Police in Pader District have recorded two suspected murder cases within a span of two days, as reported by Inspector of Police Oloya Joe, the Acting Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson.
The first case occurred on December 12, 2024, in Ongenyo Village, Golo Parish, Latanya Sub-County. A 46-year-old man, Oryem Bosco, from Olangan North, Golo Parish, was allegedly caught by the local community while attempting to steal from Lanyero Maureen Otika’s home. After his arrest, Oryem was tied up and beaten by the mob.
He was later taken to Latanya Health Center III by an unidentified boda boda rider, who instead of taking him to Kitgum General Hospital, brought him back to his home. Oryem succumbed to his injuries later that day.
A murder by mob action case was registered at Latanya Police Post and later transferred to Pader Central Police Station for further investigation.
The second incident took place on December 13, 2024, in Loyocak Village, Olam Parish, Pukor Sub-County.
Opira Richard, 53, from Lubele South, Luna Parish, Pader Town Council, had visited his sister in Loyocak Village. During his visit, he met his nephew, Onek Lucky, who invited him for a drink. After Onek left, Opira reportedly became weak and unable to continue his journey.
He was given a place to rest but was later returned to Lubele South in poor condition, where he passed away shortly afterward. Investigations into this suspected murder are also ongoing.
Police are continuing to investigate both cases.
