Hoima: Dr. Balaam Barugahara, the State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, has called on young people to actively fight corruption, particularly in government programs such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model.

He made these remarks while officiating at the five-day National Youth Conference hosted by the Hoima Catholic Diocese at St. Andrea Kaahwa’s College in Hoima City on Wednesday.

Minister Balaam also urged the youth to avoid detrimental habits such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and early romantic relationships.

He emphasized the importance of seeking skills through various presidential training hubs across the country to tackle the challenge of unemployment.

During the conference, His Grace Paul Semwogerere, Archbishop of the Kampala Archdiocese, encouraged the youth to become agents of change in their communities, while Gervase Ndyanabo, President of the Uganda National Catholic Council of Lay Apostolate, motivated them to set and pursue meaningful goals.

Rev. Father Patrick Museveni, Head of Social Communications at Hoima Catholic Diocese, reported that 10,200 participants had registered for the conference by Wednesday morning.

The conference’s opening mass was attended by Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo, Bishop of Hoima Diocese, and Rt. Rev. Damiano Giulio Guzetti, Bishop of Moroto Diocese.
